New Business:
- A reminder to members to ensure that
they have a valid VOP before they operate the Corporations Vehicles.
Also do not drive vehicles that are not indicated on your VOP.
- A motion was made to suspend the rest
of the meeting was put forward so that we could discuss the OP1
positions and the Reduction of superintendents positions. Motion
passed. Six weeks ago the Corporation announced their intentions to
eliminate the Superintendents positions across Canada. John reviewed
the process that will be utilized to assign the positions. He
cautioned that the process was subject to change. We are not sure when
the changeover will be occurring. Since that date APOC has been
Negotiating with the Corporation to try to minimize the impact on our
members.
Restructuring of APOC-represented
positions – Update Earlier this month, we shared details of the
restructuring that affects APOC-represented employees at Canada Post
plants and depots in major urban centres nationwide. This note is to
update you on developments since that announcement.
Audience: APOC-represented employees and managers and above
A message from Doug Jones, Senior
Vice-President of Operations
Management and APOC have signed a Memorandum of Agreement concerning the
staffing process for this restructuring. Additionally, agreements have
been signed that cover position occupancy tenure and lump sum salary
protection.
Superintendents and supervisors whose positions are directly affected by
the planned changes will receive a detailed explanation of the staffing
process between June 29 and July 2. During this time, staffing of
positions in areas not affected by this change is ongoing.
Management is now reviewing applications for voluntary departures and
assessing the number of voluntary departure incentives required in
specific locations across the network. As previously mentioned, voluntary
departure incentives will be allocated based on seniority and only in
locations where required. It is our intention to offer voluntary departure
incentives to a select number of APOC-represented employees by July 9.
Throughout July and into August, the staffing process for the new
organization will be finalized based on the agreements that have been
signed. The plan is to complete all staffing changes quickly and
efficiently with minimal disruptions to employees.
Staffing changes will be implemented among Collection and Delivery
superintendents first, followed by Collection and Delivery supervisors,
plant superintendents, and then plant supervisors.
Please direct any questions or concerns to your manager or human resources
representative. Thank you for your patience as management and APOC work to
resolve the staffing changes and realign Canada Post’s plants and depots.
