A.P.O.C. GENERAL MEETING - Pacific Coast Branch

Motions made to adopt the minutes from the October 21, 2009 meeting, adopted and seconded.

Old Business: The motion put forward at the October meeting to add two (2) new positions to our Executive an Officer at Large and a Staffing Grievance Officer was put a vote. The motion was passed. There will be a National convention in June 21-25, 2010 in St John's, Newfoundland, please forward any proposals for amendments to the Branch Executive. A Reminder the deadline for submissions to the APOC Scholarship has been extended to December 30, 2009. Please go to the APOC web site for the application forms.
  • John Wight: Branch President: General discussion: Consultation held with CPC Managers. APOC advised them that we would be grieving each occurrence of uncovered known absences, no more bulk Grievances. Lot s of questions and answers regarding the new collective agreement. The sick leave credit should be paid out on the December 10, 2009 cheque. The Retro pay should be paid out on the December 24, 2009. A National committee made up of CPC Management and APOC National has been formed to develop a process to handle JEP job classification Appeals. The Vacation bids for the 2010-2011 period have started. The same process as last year will be followed.

Treasurer Report: Brian Johannson: Treasury report read, balances noted. A motion was made to accept the report. Adopted and seconded.

VMPP Report: John Wight: Nil report. Covered by a summary of current issue by John Wight Branch President. A motion was made to adopt this nil report. Adopted and seconded.

VPDC Report: Angela Burnett: Nil report. Covered by a summary of current issue by John Wight Branch President. A motion was made to adopt this nil report. Adopted and seconded.

Vancouver R&D: Marlys La Brash: Nil report. Covered by a summary of current issue by John Wight Branch President. A motion was made to adopt this nil report. Adopted and seconded.

Fraser Valley Report: Carl Johnson: Nil report. Covered by a summary of current issue by John Wight Branch President. A motion was made to adopt this nil report. Adopted and seconded.

Health & Safety: Best wishes to Keith Hill for a long and happy Retirement.

New Business:

  • At the January 20, 2010 we be accepting nominations for the two new Executive positions. The Officer at Large will be for a one year term, to bring the position into line with the executive positions that come up for renewal for odd numbered years. The Staffing Grievance Officer will for a two year term, this will bring it into line with the executive positions that come up for renewal for even numbered. The Pacific Branch Bylaws will be amended to reflect the changes to the Executive.
  • Nomination for Delegates and Alternates that will attend the National Convention in St John's, Newfoundland were put forward and accepted. Ballots will be mailed out to the membership. The results of the vote will be reported at the January 20, 2010 General Meeting.
