Motions made to adopt the minutes from the March 19, 2008 meeting, adopted

Correspondence: New members to sign up ongoing. Letter Received by
all APOC Members from Francois Goulet National President, reminding all
members that March 29, 2009 our collective agreement will expire. He
states that in order to be proactive, we are involving all branches and
members in gathering their request to amend articles and/or add new
articles for the new contract. Please participate in the process by
filling out the letter included in the mailing and forwarding your ideas
to APOC- Pacific Coast Branch PO Box 82000, Burnaby, B.C V5C 5P2. “If you

Old Business: Please notify the local Executive regarding KNOWN
absences not being covered. APOC will grieve each occurrence. This issue
will be brought forward to the upcoming Contract Negotiations for 2009.
Reminder that if you do not agree with your appraisal rating, Do Not infer
in your written comment or by signing the appraisal that you do agree.
Discuss your options with your APOC Rep.
Sales Report: John Wight: No consultation was held. Next Quarterly
Review to be attended by APOC DVP. A motion was made to adopt this report.
Adopted and seconded.
Treasurer Report: Brian Johannson: Treasury report read, balances
noted. A motion was made to accept the report. Adopted and seconded.
VMPP Report: Sheri Ann Chisholm: No issues reported. A motion was
made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.
VPDC Report: Steve Gustard: Consultation to be scheduled. All
positions filled. A motion made to adopt the report. Adopted and seconded.
Vancouver R&D Report: Marlys La Brash: No consultation was held.
Appraisal concerns being monitored. Non coverage of Known Absences still
remains as an issue. Please report these occurrences to the executive. A
motion was made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.
Fraser Valley Report: Carl Johnson: No consultation held. No issues
reported. A motion was made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.
Grievances: Steve Gustard: Grievances have been filed regarding
incidence where Known Absences have not been staffed. One Grievance was
settled. A motion was made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.
Health & Safety: None.
New Business: Two Special Meetings will be held to receive and
discuss suggestions submitted by the membership as per request by National
APOC President Francois Goulet. The first meeting was held just before the
April 16, 2008 General Meeting. John Wight and Dave Watters explained the
importance for all members to participate and gave a few examples of
concerns and ideas submitted so far. The second meeting occurred on April
23, 2008 in Coquitlam. Based on the intensity of the discussions the DVP
and the Local Branch expect that we will receive a lot of submissions. All
concerns should be submitted in writing to the local using the form
received from National Office. The local will present your concerns and
ideas at the Presidents Meeting in Winnipeg in June 2008.
A notice of motion was put forward by Brian Johannson to bring the Pacific
Coast Branch into alignment with the National APOC Policy on Travel Costs.
Local should follow National Policy. Receipts for expenses must be
submitted. Motion accepted and will be voted on at the June 18, 2008
General Meeting.
Reminders:
Your APOC Local has available a $500.00 Scholarship awarded once a year
towards a non university program. To be considered eligible you must be a
dependent, child, or grandchild of a member. Please submit your entry by
September 15, 2008. Please make sure that you have signed up as a branch
member you to ensure that you are eligible for the A.P.O.C. Insurance
Policy.
