A.P.O.C. GENERAL MEETING – VANCOUVER BRANCH

Executive Present: John Wight, Carl Johnson, Rosann Janis, Marlys La Brash, Steve Gustard, Gilles Deschenes, Brian Johannson, Craig Penman .

Members Absent:

Motions made to adopt the minutes from the March 21, 2007 meeting, adopted and seconded.

Old Business: Proposals to amend the National Constitution have been posted on the APOC Web Site. The Jackets with the logo for the Convention in Kelowna have been Purchased. We are waiting for the delivery of the final product. A committee comprised of Dave Watters, Rosann Janis and Gilles Deschenes has been tasked with arranging a Summer Picnic for all members. The exact date has yet to be determined. Stay tuned for an update at the Sept 16, 2007 General Meeting.

Sales, Urban, Delivery & Fleet Report: Craig Penman: Consultation was held with Peter Jensen Sales, and Doug Matsumoto Urban, Delivery & Fleet. Organizational Charts were asked for and received. Discussion also involved A/L coverage, Training opportunities for our members, vacant positions, etc. We will be meeting to discuss issues on a regular basis. Please let us know if you have any concerns
that you would like discussed. A motion was made to accept the report. Adopted and Seconded.

Treasurer Report: Marlys La Brash, Brian Johannson : Jerry Glubisz has tendered his resignation from the Executive. The Executive has appointed Marlys La Brash and Brian Johannson duties to carry out the duties of the position. They will develop procedures and practices that will improve the reporting of expenses and the record keeping. They will be purchasing the Quicken Finance Manager Program. More detailed reports will be available to the members at the General Meetings. Treasury report read, balances noted. A motion was made to accept the report. Adopted and seconded

VMPP Report: Brian Johannson: Consultation was held. More discussion regarding Relief Positions being used to cover Long Term Absences. A motion was made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.

VPDC Report: Steve Gustard: Two new Supervisor reported to VPDC and 1 transferred to C&D. Motion made to adopt the report. Adopted and seconded.

Vancouver R&D Report: Marlys La Brash: Consultation held. Discussion regarding Bulletin Boards being installed in every office. They have all been ordered and some have been put up some have not. A Memo regarding employee’s entitlement for reimbursement of $75.00 towards the purchase of Safety shoes has been issued to all members. A change of address has been out in for the APOC PO Box. The new Address is APOC Pacific Coast Branch, PO Box 82000, Burnaby, B.C. V5C 5P2. Still an issue regarding relief
covering long term absences. Superintendent Training is scheduled for June 4, 2007 and another in July. A motion was made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.

Fraser Valley Report: Carl Johnson: Bulletin boards have arrived and are in the Process of being installed. Some concern regarding lack of coverage of absences. A motion was made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.

Grievances: Gilles Deschenes: Five Grievances have been filed in regards to appraisals. Motion made to adopt this report. Adopted and seconded.

DVP Report: Dave Watters: Message from your Divisional Vice President Hello to APOC staff. In recent meetings with our CPC partner, a great deal of dialog has revolved around Performance Management. All local President’s and myself have committed to assist in your development to better understand  Performance processes and over the next couple of months, I will be attempting to define the principles behind Performance Management. Most of the information will be can be retrieve from CPC’s “Intrapost” site. To view this information following these steps

          1. go to CPC’s Intranet site.
          2. under the heading You @ Canada Post click on HRP&D
          3. click on HRP&D again
          4. this will lead you to Human Resource Planning and Development Process – HRP&D

 


On this page you will notice a menu located on the left hand side, and a Learning and Development pin wheel. Located in this wheel, are three locations where you can access information. This information varies in range from setting objectives, performance coaching, to actions plans to assist ones performance. I would like to invite you to review this area.

Health & Safety: A number of members will be retiring over the summertime. We all wish them a long and happy retirement. Wayne Adams, Wally Lim, Daryl Ciochetti and Ivan Hupalo.

New Business: All members should be aware that CPC will be introducing the Internet Content Monitoring and Filtering Application in the near future. This will give the Corporation the ability to track and document employee Internet usage. Please exercise caution when using the Internet at work.
